I am Pastor Mark W. Coffman, a humble servant called to minister to all whom God places in my path. My faith journey has profoundly influenced my purpose, and I wish to share a glimpse into my responsibilities and my divine calling.
Family First
At the heart of my responsibilities lies my family—my beloved wife, Angie, and our two wonderful sons, Westley and Toby. They serve as my foundation and my greatest joy. I am further blessed with a supportive extended family that comes together to uplift one another during holidays and throughout the year.
A Heart for Community
My fervor resides in serving our community, both within and beyond the church’s confines. Herein lies the fulfillment of my heart, mind, and soul. I believe that God has uniquely equipped me to uplift and support others each day.
You may ponder, “Where does God fit into all of this?” The answer is simple: God occupies the very center of my priorities. The blessings I receive from family and community reflect His omnipresence in my life. My faith journey commenced at the age of fifteen, when I first encountered God through baptism in the serene waters of Emerald Lakes in Troy, MI.
A Journey of Faith
My calling to ministry was ignited at seventeen within the nurturing embrace of my home church, Evanswood Church of God, in Troy. Throughout the years, I have navigated profound growth and faced challenges, all while deepening my faith. Following high school, I pursued my education at Wayne State University, where I acquired invaluable experiences in educational environments across Michigan and Indiana.
In 2004, I further answered my calling by attending seminary at Anderson University. During my time there, I engaged with youth, parents, and young adults in Indiana, all while completing my Master of Theology. My journey then led me to a chaplaincy role in hospice care at Ascension Health in Anderson, IN, and subsequently to an Associate Pastor position at my church.
Ultimately, I returned to Troy, MI, to shepherd Evanswood Community Church, where I endeavor to cultivate a vision of unity through diversity. Our mission is succinctly encapsulated in our values: To Lead, To Listen, To Learn, To Live, and To Love—all aimed at bringing forth life for the Tri-County Area and our local community.
Join Us in Our Mission
Together, we aspire to foster a community that embodies the love of God through the love we extend to one another. I warmly invite you to reach out as we collaborate to be a blessing within our community. In addition to my pastoral duties, I also serve as a Chaplain at Hospice of Michigan in Macomb and at Henry Ford Hospital in West Bloomfield and Macomb.
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” This is the greatest commandment. The second is akin to it: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:37)
At our church, we hold that loving God entails faithfully adhering to the teachings of Jesus each day. We find our identity in Jesus our Savior, allowing His Spirit to instill within us a sense of renewal.
Our actions within the community are rooted in our unwavering commitment to Listening, Learning, Living, and Loving God and our neighbors. We aspire to bring forth life in abundance, as promised by Jesus: “I have come so that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10)
Join us on this enriching journey, filled with faith, hope, and love. Together, we can make a meaningful impact in our community.
Blessings,
Rev. Chaplain Mark W. Coffman, M.TH, CS-C, ACP
